Yikes! I agree. I've been a loyal fan of Norton Internet Security for years. Instead of simply renewing NIS 2008 for $50, I located a cheaper copy of NIS 2009 and installed it last night. It seems like I've been standing on the power cord of my computer since because it's been crawling! Today, I ran all of the usual cleanup utilities and then performed a defrag. I rebooted, hoping for the best and it still seems to take F.O.R.E.V.E.R. to start anything, including Windows Explorer. I'm about two steps away of deinstalling. This version sucks!

You are correct, it was designed for that. To be absolutely honest, it was given to me by Symnatec to review, and they are aware of the problems I had with it. Customer support was contacted in order to figure it out, however, no success. Later, I installed the latest Trend Micro Suite with all of the same features as well as a few others, and so far am not only getting great protection but my computer is back "on-line." I am sure a review of that product will be coming -- and I had to pay for it!
However, after speaking with others who use the Norton in their business and are also professional product reviewers I find that unfortunately there are many experiences like mine. Maybe they can do an update to smooth out the wrinkles. That's why I mention the good and bad. . . it could be exactly what someone else, just not me, needs. Thanks for the suggestion though!

Lisa,
If your computer is slowing down to a crawl using NIS 2009 there is something wrong with your set up. Please contact technical support. NIS 2009 was designed specifically to be incredibly fast. It should not be slowing down your computer.
