<description>I have used Defender Pro for the past two years. I have no problems with it. Thing is people have to remember to reove their previous antivirus. Or else it can cause problems. Happened to me the first time around, and now I always remember to make sure I remove everythign before I install something new.

<description>I had some trouble with Defender Pro but it was because I had pre existing anti virus which I had to get rid of first. Overall I haven&#039;t had any problems since then.

<description>If you are experiencing this error message when you try to shut down or log off you computer,
it may not be caused by a virus or malware. If you are using the new version of Defender Pro
Internet Security program (v. 6.0.2.621 or newer and possibly some older versions) this may be
your problem. Defender Pro has acknowledged that there is a problem with their new version
that causes the Win453 error on shut down or when logging off.
They are addressing the problem and plan to have it corrected in the next version.
Many solutions have been offered that only address the symptoms and not the problem. Some say
that all you have to do is make sure you [Right-click] on the Defender Pro icon in the right
corner of the task bar then select [Exit] and then shut down or log off. This does work
(most of the time) or when you remember.... But if you are like me you may just forget to do
this and then you get the error message.
Some have said that all you have to do is [click] on the [End Now] button when the error message
appears and that is all that is necessary. When I experienced this, I tried this and the message
just popped-up again (and again, and again and again and again and again, etc. etc. etc.)
There is another solution which lets you log off or shut down without having to remember to exit
the program or anything else. You can simply log off or shut down as you normally would.
The solution that I found requires editing the system registry. It is not hard to do but
you need to make sure you don&#039;t change anything else by mistake. If you are not sure you want
to try this yourself you may want to get someone that has done this type of thing before. Also,
Please note: THis worked for me on two computers that I own. I no longer have the error
message on either computer and I DO NOT have to exit anything or remember anything before I
shut down or log off.
HOWEVER, YOU DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK! I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILTY FOR ANYTHING THAT MAY GO WRONG!
iF YOU SCREW SOMETHING UP BY MISTAKE OR ARE NOT SURE OF WHAT YOU ARE DOING.... DON&#039;T DO THIS!
MAKE SURE YOU BACK-UP (EXPORT) YOUR REGISTRY FILE BEFORE ATTEMPTING! AGAIN, IF YOU DON&#039;T KNOW
HOW TO DO THIS, DON&#039;T TRY IT YOURSELF. I WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR ACTIONS.
If you wish to continue or have someone that will do it for you, it is a relatively easy process
Here is what you do:
Select the Start button in the lower left corner of the taskbar and the select RUN from the menu.
type in regedit and press [ENTER] or [click] the [Okay] button.
The registry will appear in two columns
In the left column find the item that says HKEY_CURRENT-USER and click on the plus (+) sign.
Now find the item Contro Panel and [click] on the plus (+) in front of it.
Now find the item Desktop and [click] on it once.
Now in the RIGHT column find the item titled AutoEndTasks and [Double-click] it.
Change the value that appears in the Value Data field from the 0 (Zero) to a 1 (one).
Go up to the menu and choose File and then Exit.
That&#039;s all there is to it!
Re-start your computer. Don&#039;t forget to Exit out of Defender Pro as stated above (for the last
time).
After the computer re-starts the new registry value will be in effect and you will no longer
get the Win453 error.
If your Value Data field already contains a 1 you may have an entirely different problem.
In this case DO NOT change anything. Simply [Exit] the Registry Editor.
I would assume that when Defender Pro comes out with the next version (or patch) that corrects
this problem, you would want to change this value back to 0 (Zero).
This solution worked great for me on 2 different computer systems. One a desktop running
Windows XP Professional and a notebook running Windows XP Home.
Hope this helps!

<description>Today I bought the Defender Pro 2009 15-in-1 for my two home computers. The only good thing about this program is the fact that it is 100% money back guaranteed, which better be the case. One of my home computers had some sort of malware or something that caused pop ups every time i use the internet, the other computer was just a little slow. I installed the program on the first computer just fine. After it restared my computer as required it was easily 10 times worse than before i put the program on, i cant use anything on the computer, not a single program will open up except the 15-in-1. Even though its the only program that works now it wont even do a system scan or check for any viruses, it does absolutely nothing but open and take up the screen. It would not even install on my other computer and made it freeze during me trying to uninstall it. It will not uninstall at all from either computer and now they are both completely useless. I will be giving the company a call tomorrow and let them know just what i think. DO NOT PURCHASE!

<description>i bought dp 2009 5 in 1 and have had no issues with it. before installing i removed all other antivirus antivirus, programs, like you are supposed to because traces of old av can conflict with new av causing HELLacious issues. i also use malware bytes malware remover for backup, because if it gets past my av then malware bytes will kill it when ran.trust me, before i had defender pro, i used a freeware av that was supposedly good, but trojans attacked and luckily i had malwarebytes there to remove them. also, people who design trojans design then for more popular av&#039;s. so thats why, combined with their weaknesses, norton and mcafee will never reside on my computer. ive known many people with those avs that have had alot of issues. the internet is a world of danger, exploring it is like exploring a minefield. so use precaution, and the more you use it - the more precautions you should take. if you&#039;re on there alot and use it for numerous activities then i suggest trend micro. if you use it sparingly or only for recreational purposes then use an av which gives you more control over what goes in,out and through it. take the time to uninstall old programs before installing newer ones. most people buying a $20 av from walmart arent going to have the sense to do things the right way anyways, but i happen to not be one of those.thanks.
